Running the Linux Bash Shell in Windows 10 ... 2016 Style!

You're not mis-reading the title of this post. Microsoft is really bringing the native Linux Bash shell environment to an upcoming build of Windows 10! In the past, one would need to either install a VM or run Cygwin (which was my preferred method of choice) to have access to one's favorite 'NIX tools. This is a huge new feature for developers or Linux admins looking to get commandline work done using familiar tools from the Linux universe. I for one am very happy Microsoft is partnering with Canonical to make this happen.

After TEN years, I'm back ...

My last post to this blog was way back in 2006! The tech world has changed quite a bit over this time. The smartphone has grown from a device that could perform a few actions using a handful of apps to the most powerful personal computer you can carry in your pocket. The mobile space for smartphones is dominated by Google's Android OS and Apple's iOS operating systems. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses with huge developer camps churning out more and more innovative apps and solutions to improve the quality of our every day lives. I plan to continue reporting on these new technologies that I find interesting and beneficial to my life.
